Green tripe contains a healthy and proportional range of bio-chemicals by weight and volume. It contains Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids and has an exceptional balance of calcium to phosphorus. The overall pH is slightly acidic, which is better for digestion.

THE LOOK AND SMELL OF GREEN TRIPE

Tripett is made from green tripe and uses no preservatives, fillers, or artificial ingredients. The benefit of Green Tripe is that the partially digested food the animal has consumed is retained and is rich in essential fatty acids and natural stomach juices, and has not been stripped of all essential nutritional value. Because Tripett uses no filler ingredients (it is pure tripe), the product can vary in texture, smell, and color. You can expect to see a product that ranges from a light beige/tan color, to a darker grey with black color. Sometimes the product will appear dryer and sometimes it will be more wet. Fat will collect at times in little white clumps. This is all standard with green tripe and you can expect all points in between. Occasionally hair digested in the cows stomach will pass through into production unnoticed -- this is completely harmless.

  • Why tripe?
    • Just like their wild counterparts, domestic dogs have an instinctive desire to eat the nutrient-rich stomach and stomach-contents of other animals. Tripe is one of the most healthy natural foods available and provides many benefits to overall health and appearance. Dogs love the taste.
  • Is green tripe the same tripe I can find in the grocery store?
    • No! Green tripe has not been bleached or processed for human consumption. By leaving it "green", the tripe retains all of the nutrients from the partially digested grasses and grains in the stomach. Although it may look and smell less pleasant, it is much healthier for your pet than the bleached tripe you can find at a grocery store.
  • Is it cooked?
    • We start with raw green tripe, but the canning process uses heat. Therefore, Tripett is technically "cooked". However, lab tests on the final product show that the beneficial nutrients have been retained after the canning process.
  • I only feed dry and don't feed canned foods. Why should I use Tripett?
    • Tripett is intended to be mixed with dry or raw food and is canned for convenience only. Don't think of it as any old canned food that replaces your current feeding program. Think of it as the most convenient method to serve green tripe, the can just happens to be the container. Tripett does not smell like fresh raw tripe does (for those of you who want to feed tripe without that huge clothes pin on your nose) but it is still quite pungent. We take the cans to the outside trash immediately.
  • Is it a complete food?
    • To ensure maximum nutrition, we recommend that Tripett is used everyday and supplemented with a quality dry or raw food.
  • My dog has allergies. Is Tripett Ok?
    • Tripett contains very few ingredients. Most other foods contain a long list of ingredients that your animal may be allergic to. Most allergic animals have reactions to corn, rice, soy, or wheat. Chances are, your dog is not allergic to tripe.
  • My pet is really picky. How should I try Tripett?
    • Start with small amounts of Tripett either by itself or mixed with your regular dry food. Your pet should take to Tripett right away.
  • Where do you get the green tripe?
    • The beef tripe comes only from cattle raised for human consumption and is taken from federally inspected plants. The lamb tripe comes from lamb raised and fed on the grasslands of New Zealand for human consumption.
  • Is feeding green tripe well known?
    • Green tripe is quite popular among breeders, show people, handlers, and owners who feed BARF diets (biologically appropriate raw food/bones and raw food). It is also very common in England. Dogs with green tripe in their diets display a better coat and an overall healthier appearance. Many blue ribbons have been won over the years by dogs that have green tripe included in their diets. Tripett is also common with owners that have picky eaters or allergic animals.

FEEDING GUIDELINES FOR 13.2 oz. CANS

Pet's Weight Daily Amount
5-30 lbs 1/4 - 1 can
30 - 70 lbs 1/2 - 1.5 cans
70+ lbs 1 - 2 cans
Tripett is intended to be supplemented with good quality raw or dry food. Adding Tripett to each serving will greatly increase your pet's enjoyment of its meals. The proportions of tripe to commercial food can range from 25% tripe to 75% commercial food, or be as high as 75% tripe and 25% commercial food. It is recommended that most dogs, especially large breeds, be fed twice a day to minimize the dangers of bloating. Because tripe contains strong stomach juices and partially fermented stomach contents, it does give off a strong smell, but animals love it! Any unused portion of Tripett should be stored in a tightly sealed container and refrigerated.
